Event descriptions:

1) Dreamtime Stories:

Room 74 and 75 will be open during Break 2 for the showing of Dreamtime stories. This will be

available for all students to attend. By showing Dreamtime stories we aim to display recognition

and support for the Aboriginal student population at RSHS through raising awareness of their

cultural beliefs and heritage.

Understanding and recognition of Aboriginal cultural is a cross curriculum priority and we believe

that these Dreamtime stories are an easily accessible means of raising awareness of Aboriginal

history.

2) Wirrpanda foundation:

The Wirrpanda Foundation mentor speaker Josie Janz will provide a talk on aspiring to reach your

goals, whilst developing a sense of cultural appreciation and positive resilience to achieve them.

Year 7 students have been chosen as the audience because of the links to the Personal Growth

and Citizenship program initiative for 2015. Based on leadership and developing we hope to

prepare future ready citizens who are culturally aware and understand the importance of inclusion

in response to the potential for fragmentation of multifaceted and multidimensional communities

that exist in the 21st century. Students will learn about the relationship between social inclusion

and the development of social capital which focuses on the building of networks, relationships and

trust.
